How we work · Step 5 of 5

The final walkthrough

The job is not done when the paint is on the wall. It is done when you have walked every room with us and signed off. Here is how the last day goes.

A Toronto law office repainted in navy and cream by BITR — the finished work presented at handover.

The punch list

On the last day we walk the finished work with you, room by room, surface by surface, against the scope on your quote. Anything you flag goes on the punch list.

If you cannot be on site — landlords, out-of-town owners, property managers — we send a video walkthrough with timestamps instead, so you can review the work without a site visit.

Touch-ups before we leave

Punch-list items are corrected before we pack up: final detail work done, hardware reinstalled, cleanup finished. You inspect every detail with us before you pay the balance — not after.

What you sign off on

Your sign-off is against the quote itself: the work listed under “the work we're doing,” completed, at the number you approved. Residential clients pay a 25% deposit to secure the start date and the balance on completion, after the walkthrough. Commercial completion payments release after your walkthrough as well.

Because any scope changes were approved in writing as they came up, the invoice matches the quote.

The 2-year workmanship warranty

Every job leaves with a 2-year workmanship warranty in writing. If a surface we painted peels, blisters, or fails under normal conditions within two years of completion, we come back and make it right at no charge.

The warranty does not cover damage from moisture intrusion, structural movement, or abuse, or surfaces we advised against and noted in writing. Behind it sit $4M in commercial liability insurance and full WSIB coverage — certificates on request.

Common questions

What happens if I spot a problem after you leave?
Every BITR project comes with a 2-year workmanship warranty. If the paint peels, cracks, or fades due to our work within that period, we come back and fix it — free of charge.
When do I pay the balance?
After you have walked the finished work with us and you are satisfied. Residential projects are a 25% deposit to secure the start date with the balance due on completion; commercial terms are set out in your proposal.
What does the warranty cover — and not cover?
It covers our workmanship for two years from completion: a painted surface that peels, blisters, or fails under normal conditions is made right at no charge. It does not cover moisture intrusion, structural movement, abuse, or surfaces we advised against and noted in writing.
Do I have to be there for the final walkthrough?
No. If you cannot be on site, we send a video walkthrough with timestamps — landlords and out-of-town owners review and sign off remotely.
