How we work with institutions

Accountable, documented, on schedule.

One point of contact

A single account lead from first walk-through to final sign-off. No call-centre, no rotating crews — the same team that quoted the job runs it.

Scheduled around operations

Breaks, after-hours, weekends, closed days, occupied wings. The schedule is built around your building, not the other way around — documented up front.

Documented & invoiced clean

Certificate of insurance on signing, daily progress, a walk-through before invoice, and net-30 terms or standing rate sheets for recurring work.

Safe in occupied space

Zero-VOC product for schools, clinics, and offices in use, commercial air scrubbers where needed, and a site broken down clean every evening.

Diverse supplier & community benefit

Black-owned, and hiring women into the trade.

Brightest In The Room is Black-owned, which makes us eligible for the diverse-supplier and social-procurement programs run by the City of Toronto, the Province of Ontario, and Ontario universities. We’ll provide ownership documentation for your prequalification package.

And there’s a community-benefit story your RFP can score on: every year we interview and hire trained painters graduating from the YWCA Women in Trades program. Local hiring, women entering a trade that needs them, and workforce development you can point to in your evaluation.

Procurement FAQ

What procurement teams ask first

Do you respond to RFPs and public tenders?
Yes. Send us the RFP, tender, or scope and we’ll put together a compliant proposal with pricing, schedule, insurance, WSIB clearance, and references. We can complete vendor-prequalification packages and get added to approved-vendor lists.
What insurance and safety documentation can you provide?
$4M commercial general liability and full WSIB coverage, with a certificate of insurance naming your organization as additional insured on signing and a WSIB clearance certificate on request. Higher coverage limits can be arranged for qualifying contracts.
Can you work around classes, tenants, or public hours?
That’s most of our institutional work. We schedule into closures — reading weeks, exams, summer, evenings, weekends — and use zero-VOC paint so occupied buildings stay safe to use. The reopening date or operating window is the fixed point everything is built around.
Do you handle multi-building portfolios and recurring contracts?
Yes — co-ops, condos, managed portfolios, and campus building groups under one accountable crew and a single point of contact. We set up recurring maintenance agreements, standing rate sheets, and net-30 invoicing.
Is Brightest In The Room a diverse supplier?
Yes — BITR is a Black-owned business, eligible for the diverse-supplier and social-procurement programs run by the City of Toronto, the Province, and Ontario universities. We also interview and hire trained painters from the YWCA Women in Trades program every year — a documentable community benefit for your bid. Ownership documentation on request.
