Benjamin Moore Paint Guide: Ben vs. Regal vs. Aura

January 15, 20264 min read

As a Benjamin Moore certified partner, we use their paints exclusively. But with three main interior lines, which one should you choose? Here's our honest take.

Benjamin Moore Ben

Best for: Budget-friendly refreshes, rental properties, guest rooms
- Good coverage (usually 2 coats)
- Decent washability
- Wide colour range
- Our "Standard" tier

Ben is a solid, reliable paint. It's where most builders and rental property owners land. For rooms that don't get heavy traffic, it performs well.

Benjamin Moore Regal Select

Best for: Main living areas, kitchens, hallways, kids' rooms
- Excellent coverage (often great in 2 coats)
- Superior washability and stain resistance
- Mildew resistant
- Our "Premium" tier — most popular

Regal is our most-recommended paint. The washability is noticeably better than Ben — important for high-traffic areas. It also has better flow and levelling, meaning fewer brush marks.

Benjamin Moore Aura

Best for: Feature walls, master bedrooms, living rooms, anywhere colour matters most
- Best-in-class coverage (true one-coat potential on some colours)
- Colour Lock technology — richest, most accurate colour
- 25-year durability claims
- Zero VOC
- Our "Luxury" tier

Aura costs more but delivers the most beautiful finish. The colour depth is visibly richer, especially with deep or saturated colours. If you're doing a navy accent wall or a deep green dining room, Aura is worth every dollar.

Our Recommendation

For most Toronto homes, Regal Select hits the sweet spot of performance and value. Upgrade to Aura for your showcase rooms. Use Ben where budget matters more than perfection.

All three come with our 2-year workmanship warranty.
